Nice that you want to come by! You don’t need to make a reservation in advance. 🙂
Locations and opening hours
Can I make a reservation?
If it rains, can I come inside to take shelter and leave right after without ordering anything?
Yes indeed, the more souls the more joy. What could be more fun than sheltering together? Should you change your mind while hiding: staying for a fresh juice or delicious coffee is also an idea!
What are your opening hours?
Every Bagels & Beans has different opening hours. Why? At Bagels & Beans, we’re just a little stubborn. We don’t like uniformity. Neither do you. You can find the opening hours of every Bagels & Beans here. Even with holidays, each Bagels & Beans decides for itself if and (until) what time it is open. Want to make sure you’re not standing in front of a closed door? Then contact the establishment.
Of course it is always possible to pick up your order. You can place this order via order.bagelsbeans.nl, we will make it ready for you safely and quickly. You can pick it up at any time at your favorite location. Some locations also deliver themselves or do this through one of the delivery partners (Thuisbezorgd, UberEats or Deliveroo).
Can I also celebrate with you on holidays?

I am not very fond of unaddressed advertising work. Do you guys have a solution for this?
Yes, of course! In our branches there are stickers to indicate that you do not want to receive unaddressed advertising material. We have a “no-no” variant as well as a “no-yes” sticker. We don’t like unnecessary paper use either, which is why we have these stickers in our branches. Just take them with you!

What is the best way to eat my bagel?
We get your question. It’s tricky too, such a crazy sandwich with a hole in it, richly topped with all kinds of goodies. In fact, you don’t really know where to start… There are two official ways to eat a bagel. Option 1: With your hands. Just put it all together and shove it. Or do you go for option 2? With a knife and fork. Less exciting, but just as tasty.
I am allergic to gluten or following a gluten-free diet. Can I come and eat with you?
Yes! We have a gluten-free bagel on the menu. Want to take a gluten-free bagel (topped or untopped) home or on the go? That is also possible. Ask at your local branch if you can take a gluten-free bagel with you, and they will assist you further.
When preparing a gluten-free bagel, we follow a special procedure to avoid “contamination” by products containing gluten. This is also necessary, after all, products containing gluten are mainly prepared in our stores. So there is a risk of cross-contamination!
Among other things, we use clean cutlery and a clean cutting board. In any case, it is advisable to always report a gluten allergy to the service staff in advance. To prevent “contamination” by gluten, it is important that we know about your allergy. Would you like a particular bagel, but have a gluten intolerance? Please indicate this with your order, so we can take the ingredients into account. Are you craving something other than a gluten-free bagel, but want to be sure it doesn’t contain gluten? Then ask for the special allergen information. This lists all gluten-free options.
What is (sour) sourdough?
Leaven and sourdough are the same thing, namely a prepared raw material added to dough. It is created from a mixture of water and wheat flour that ferments at a certain temperature after a certain time and sours the dough. Because the “sour” doesn’t sound so good, many bakers prefer to call it disembroidered bread.
About 150 years ago, people didn’t bake other than with sourdough. Later, yeast factories started cultivating the yeast cells and selling the yeast to bakers. Cultivated yeast is easier, more reliable and makes the bread fluffier, which is why Dutch bakers switched to yeast en masse. France and Germany still bake with sourdough (levain, sauerteig) or with a combination of sourdough and yeast.
In the case of sourdough bread, sourdough is used instead of yeast to make the bread rise. Yeast is usually about 2 to 5% of your flour weight, if you use desem you do 30 to 50% of your flour weight, so at 30% on 1000 gr of flour use 300 gr of desem. You can roughly double the rise times. A yeast bread with 2% yeast takes about 2.5 hours from kneading to baking to rise (pre-rise, rise, proof), a sourdough bread with 30% sourdough takes about 6 hours from kneading to baking.
So a dough with sourdough has a longer rising time and also the sourdough is slightly acidic, because of this the dough development is different which also makes the taste of a sourdough bread different.
I have an allergy/multiple allergies how do you help me?
A hardcopy allergen booklet is available in each establishment. This way we can guarantee that the information is always up to date and reflects any changes in ingredients or preparation processes. You can always ask our staff for this booklet and detailed allergen information. We also choose not to publish it online because we always want the allergen booklet to be as up-to-date as possible! Do you order through Ubereats Thuisbezorgd or order.bagelsbeans.nl? If so, please contact the relevant branch by phone. We will be happy to help you!
What is an oathie?
Our oathie bagel! That’s our nutritious low gluten oat (or oat, as it’s called in English) based bagel. The oathie bagel is a healthy alternative to bread that contains no flour or wheat, but consists of raw oatmeal flakes, berries, flaxseed and nuts. The sugars in the oathie are absorbed more slowly than the sugars in “regular” bread. This is because oathie is richer in healthy fiber and fats. Bread contains less healthy nutrients, namely mostly empty calories in the form of sugars. The oathie bagel contains many healthy substances, such as extra minerals (iodine, potassium and magnesium), flaxseed and walnuts (omega-3 fatty acids) and blueberries (contain flavonoids).
Measurements have been taken since the introduction of this bagel to determine the ppm of gluten. The ppm gluten has never exceeded 79 ppm in these measurements. Less than 20 ppm is “gluten-free. Less than 100 ppm is “low gluten.
The oathie may contain traces of milk/lactose, which is why we do not recommend this bagel as vegan. However, it does contain only plant-based products.
I have a cow’s milk or lactose allergy, what products can I safely eat?
Most of our bagels do not contain lactose or cow’s milk. Then we are talking about the bagels themselves (white, brown, sesame, and so on) and not the toppings. However, the gluten-free bagel may contain traces of milk/lactose. Therefore, we advise you not to order this bagel (just to be sure).
Would you like lactose-free toppings? Ask the waiter for the allergen information, which lists all lactose-free options. All our drinks can also be ordered with soy, oat or almond drink. In consultation with our staff you can also look at other possibilities. We recommend that you always inform the staff in advance of any allergies. We also prepare products in our kitchen that contain cow’s milk or lactose and to avoid ‘contamination’, it is important that we know about your allergy.

I’m pregnant and really don’t want to miss out on you. Will that work?
Congratulations! We have good news for you: our cream cheese is pasteurized, so you can safely eat it. But we have much more on the menu that you can enjoy without worry. Ask the staff for the allergen information – it lists all our products and whether they are safe to eat or drink during pregnancy. See you soon!
Where does your coffee come from?
Our coffee (of course, 100% Arabica beans) comes from cooperatives of different farmers. Read here to learn more about the story of this unique coffee plantation.
Are your products organic or fair trade?
From the very beginning of Bagels & Beans, we have paid special attention to natural products and conscious eating. Back then, you might not have called it sustainable, but we were already looking for suppliers where we knew where the products came from and how they were made. Nowadays, we try to include as many organic or sustainable products as possible on our menu. For example, we source our coffee beans from a small family farm in Panama, and the fish comes from Fishtales.
Not everything is sustainable or organic, but step by step, it’s becoming more so. We believe that healthy, sustainable, and delicious go perfectly together. That quality is more important than profit. Our products are carefully selected, but not everything is organic, fair trade, or sustainable. We are not perfect in this, but where we can, we gladly make that choice.
